The Summer of Love

I’ve been thinking a lot about love this summer.

All kinds of love. Love in its broadest sense. Love that runs smoothly and love that doesn’t. What love means.

Love Unlimited.

Love Unlimited: Anthology was published on 23rd August; a collection of eleven short stories (one of mine included) by international women authors that ‘cross generations, cultural backgrounds, and borders. Some of the stories will warm your heart, tickle your funny bone, and make you reflect on the on the complex nature of love’.

It’s a mixed bag, for sure, and therein lies its strength: on one page you’ll love the delightful rom-com moments, on another you’ll wince at historical tragedy. Exactly what we wanted!

Whilst I’ve been published in anthologies before, and I’ve even edited one or two of them, this is the first time I’ve been part of an ‘online’ collaboration. The book has been created entirely (content, format, cover design, promotion) via social media from a secret Facebook page – something, to be honest, I was sceptical could ever work.

That it has worked, and within a relatively tight timescale, is tribute to the professionalism and commitment of the women involved. All of the authors should be applauded for their stories; the additional skills of Amy Gettinger (editor), Liz Durano (formatter and publisher), and Laura Chapman (lots of things including promotion), doubly so.

It’s been a challenge, a learning curve, a pleasure to interact with other writers across the world – If I’ve been more cheerleader than main player, I still fully appreciate the opportunity and the support to look at the writing world from this angle. And I think I speak for all of us when I say it’s just great to have another story out there.

Above all, it’s been a labour of love. Feel free to share that love by reading, reviewing and recommending it!
